Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 15-18knts Surf / Sea State: big shorebreak, decent swell t Air Temperature: okay Sea Temperature: fine Weather: okay Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Pevensey Bay was horrible with big shorebreak for a good 4 hours past high
tide ... approx 2 hours after high tide it looked okay, then wind switched
a bit more onshore and despite tide falling, the level remained high and it
was even worse.
Just as got opportunity to launch, wind dropped a notch, and even though i
had rigged my 5.6m Remedy & 3S97 so i could get out okay, the big waves,
inside rip and masses of thick stringy seaweed did enough between the big
dumping waves to thwart my attempts.
A nice welcome to another german visitor to the area, Thorsten has been
touring UK for past week or so (did Daymer Bay so hope didn't hook up with
any of our miserable kernow krowd ) and according to his german guide to UK
windsurf spots, no mention of high tide shorebreak for pevensey
credit to francis, who is old enough to know better and seemed to have a
deal going with the big man upstairs ... as he decides he's going to
launch, wanders down and there's a 2 min respite in the dumpers ... though
he may have owed the big man a couple of quid as he turned the wind down a
bit too forcing Francis to come back in and rig a bigger sail
Couple of guys launched from Rosetti, where it looked a little tamer but
also was a little sheltered so it was a wobble out over less punishing
waves before finding the wind. Lesson .... look up there before rigging
when it's dumpy as that !
Off to camber tomorrow, so none of this high tide launching worry, though
I'm sure I'll get spanked properly somewhere out there Gutted, you still
up for the trip .. PaulP ... fancy a road trip ?
